NEEDS AND METRICS

Project needs are essential aspects required by a customer or client, which must be taken into account in order to develop a feasible and practical solution to the main issue (food insecurity) being faced. the needs help give a framework to design around and helps other relevant interested parties remain on the same page.

Project metrics help quantify and describe the project needs in a definitive way, weather units of measurement  be numerical, percentage based or a selection from a fixed range of values/classifications.

The 4 main pillars of food security (accessibility, availability, utilization and stability) are important in assessing a populations food security level but for this project, the aspects of palatability and transportation  are being considered. This allows for a more optimized solution to be obtained for the sample diet plan, and by extension the food security plan.

The metrics to be used, need to be able to be applicable across multiple needs. The Needs matrix helps demonstrate this as the metrics used for this paper showed allot of correlation with the project needs. The greater the correlation between project needs and a project metric, the more practical it would be to use the metric as a way of assessing project needs.
